TBIG-backed Mark Richard Insurance acquires 75% stake in Portal Broking Group, marking sixth deal of 2025

Mark Richard Insurance, part of The Broker Investment Group (TBIG), has acquired a 75% stake in Portal Broking Group 

The deal represents TBIG’s sixth transaction of 2025, underlining the Group’s momentum as one of the most active investors in UK regional broking.

Portal Broking Group is a £2m GWP commercial insurance specialist based in Tarporley, Cheshire. Established in June 2022, the broker has grown rapidly from a standing start, building a strong reputation among local businesses and developing a notable expertise in sports club insurance.

The business will continue to be led by Managing Director Jason Munnelly, with the full team of three remaining in place as they pursue ambitious growth plans with the support of both Mark Richard Insurance and TBIG.

Mark Richard operates from three offices across Bristol and Weston-super-Mare and is a leading regional broker controlling £12.5m GWP. The acquisition increases this to £14.5m GWP, supporting the firm’s strategy to become a South West powerhouse targeting £20m+ GWP by the end of 2028.
